ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN PARALEGAL STUDIES
The Advanced Diploma in Paralegal Studies is suitable for:
- OIPS Members and non-members with a minimum of three years’ professional workplace experience as, for example, a lawyer, surveyor, accountant, insurer, shipbroker or similar. This experience must involve communicating with others, problem-solving, managing workloads effectively, decision-making and the exercise of judgment.
- Legal Practitioners seeking to obtain background to successfully change jurisdiction of study or practice.
The rate of migration for study or work has grown over the years, and in light of economic or geographical circumstances is expected to increase. OIP’s Advanced Diploma in Paralegal Studies is a practical course given by experienced practitioners in the field, ideal to introduce you to a new world of legal practice while serving as stepping stone to study for and work while obtaining relevant certification in the relevant novel jurisdiction. This is not an academic course and is designed to be a practical guide, taught by legal and paralegal practitioners.
The Diploma will provide you with a detailed knowledge of the procedural elements of paralegalism, as practiced in the most common jurisdictions.

This allows for a balanced approach where students gain on their existing knowledge to solidify their foundational legal research, writing, and ethical skills. Then they progress to specialized legal areas based on their career interests, gaining in-depth knowledge in complex legal matters. Finally, they enhance their practical skills and technology proficiency through hands-on experiences in legal settings, preparing them for on-site challenges in their career or study path. After successfully completing the course outline and assessment, candidates are eligible for certification.
